Commentator
Conchita Martinez retired from tennis in April of 2006 and began working with Eurosport in Spain commentating during the French Open. Since that time she has commentated for various television stations in Spain, including Canal + during Wimbledon, Marca TV and with Direct TV Sports for Latin American viewers. Her many years in front of the camera as a player have turned out to be perfect conditioning for her new career behind the mic calling the games.
“I love commentating matches and trying to explain as easy as I can to the viewers what I see on the court, what a players feels like in certain moments and talk about tactics and technique of the players. When I see a mistake I try to explain why it happened and what they perhaps could have done, the same with a good ball. I also enjoy talking about things the fans may find interesting and could only find out if you are close to some players.”
